Question: I'm promoting a physical product for a friend of mine. Every time someone uses this coupon code, I will receive a commision.

Now, I would like to promote this product via PPC. I've added the coupon code to the ad. However, I think it looks a little cheesy.

I was thinking a landing page and then reselling his product but that is out, since it's highly personal and each item comes with 10+ different options. Plus he doesn't want to dilute his brand since nobody can do what he can.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Something about Tracking 202/Prosper?

Now, I need to talk to my buddy to add the tracking code on his website!

That's why I hang out in the noob section... cause i WILL ask all the stupid questions! (sigh)
 
So I've gone through the t202 videos and I guess I figured out how to phrase my question differently.

How do I create my own affiliate link? Since this is not part of a network I need to find a way to track my sales.

That responsibility falls on your friend.

He needs to create a tracking system where things come from you and you get paid for it.

Otherwise you can tell him you got 32132145515 sales he owns you money.

In terms of tracking for yourself you can use prosper to track people coming through you etc...

Now see the last tab that talks about tracking pixels?

Your friend needs to add that in his site...but he needs to add it only on the pages you sent to him...otherwise your pixel will fire for all his customers.

So as I said, he is the one that needs to install the pixel just for you and you want it to only fire when your coupon is being used.

Thanks a ton for your answer. We talked about it just now on the phone and our biggest problem is to find a software/tracking system which we can install on his server.

Any ideas where to find a system like this?

So I just did a google/bing search on affiliate tracking software. HOLY COW!

There is a lot of them.

Anyone have experience using one of those packages? Preferably something inexpensive?
