Hi,

I am new to affiliate marketing and I just created my new site. I showed it to a couple of people who aren't into affiliate marketing and they didn't seem to be impressed. So I figured I would ask people in the business.

My website is: www.practicalliving.com

I would truly appreciate any valuable critiques and input.

Thanks,
John

The front page isn't inviting enough in my opinion and feels a bit bland and, I don't know, sets my feng shui and aestethics alarms off! It's not the most attractive colour set, but the site works nicely enough.

The colours are a bit pukey and the red is not in keeping with the palette. I'd get rid of the nasty yellow and make it more alive, the same with the greeen, make it a lime or something "web 2". (Did I just say web 2? Fucking hell I'm a cunt.)

I think there's too much in the left nav. I'd probably throw the brands in the footer, outside of the main page div.

I'd have the buy buttons more accessible, at least above the fold, pref next to each product, and probably mask them, just to at least cookie them!

I also don't like the ratings. When I see ratings I wanna see reviews, or at least see that when I clcik the stars I can rate the product. As I can't I then immediately have the opinion that the ratings are for no more than aiding my purchase and are far from unbiased.

At the end of the day I've never had a site like that so probably can't offer too much help and I'm perhaps over thinking what is essentially like an old eBay BANS affiliate store and the like. :)
