I've been playing with the idea of trying internet marketing on and off for a while, and have recently decided to step up and just do it. Got a monthly baby croc hostgator account and registered a domain on godaddy.

This site is in the form of a wordpress blog, and I put my first site online about 4 days ago. When I seach mydomainname.com in google, my site's privacy policy page shows up as the #1 result, but the homepage and the actual posts that I care about being indexed are nowhere to be found! :angryfire: haha

I already have 3 affiliate links on 3 different posts which contain a 200 word blurb about a service, then a link to the service with my affiliate link in it. There are 5 other blurbs with no links on them.

Anyone know if this kind of thing is normal for such a new site or if I screwed up? Will google hate affiliate links on such a new site?

Thanks!

Your site is 4 days old. Keep building quality content to the website and you'll be fine.

Yea, I know I shouldn't try to rush things with SEO, but I do get impatient to see results, and don't really feel like investing in PPC as a poor noob, so I guess I should just get used to it for now. :food-smiley-010:

I'm on commission junction right now, and I'd like to sell products for established outdoor retailers on the network. I've applied to a couple, but the site I've started with is completely unrelated. I probably should have waited until I built a relevant site before applying with them. Yay for rushing things! I guess I can reapply later if they turn me down now?

4 days??? SEO takes months, sometimes years for competitive terms. Sites drop out of rankings "randomly" for weeks at a time. If you are impatient after 4 days, you won't last long tbh.

Give it time...if after 2 weeks you see your home page not being indexed but your pp page is then you might be doing something wrong. Get all in one seo plugin for wp if you don't have it..should help with keeping things organized.

Rankings after 4 days are just random.
Don't focus on rankings at the moment, keep posting new content and you'll be fine.

Maybe you wrote the baddest ass privacy page in the history of privacy pages and everybody is now linking to your privacy page to show how a privacy page is done.
