I am using worldproxy202 to view United States Google and Bing search results from Australia.
When searching for keyword X there are no search results. So I think this KW looks pretty good, put it in my campaign bid $0.50 seeings no one is bidding on that term. Wait a day and then under my report I see that I am currently in 10th position.

Google / Bing don't show true results through a proxy. Is there a way around this? I am located in Australia

the proxy software identifies itself as a proxy in the headers it passes which google always checks for. If you use a packaged proxy service theres probably no way to stop that. The best way to do it is to buy some webhosting in the US and install a webproxy like cgiproxy or phpproxy. Then clean it up so its not a pain in the ass to browse through and use that.

You can get US results if you browsing from non-US country by adding "&gl=us" at the end of the searched keyword page.

For example look at the end of this URL:
Code:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&fkt=4604&fsdt=6056&q=wickedfire&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g1g-s1g3g-s1g1[b]&gl=us[/b]

Mr. Obvious says, gl = geolocation :D
