Anyone using QR/shotcodes in display ads? I have been using them offline for a while, to largely minimal uptake or effect; however, I've noticed the last few months I keep seeing them in more places, and reading about them on more news/blog sites etc. Just curious if anyone else is using them, in what context and whether or not they are proving effective for display marketing.

to clarify, know your audience. If your target audience is tech savvy try them. The cases where ive used QR codes, they aren't so it hasn't done well.

This.

Ive tried utilizing QR codes in too small campaigns that I ran in the past...both utterly failed for lack of a batter explanation.

However, I really think I was trying to utilize them within the wrong market...I just cant seem to figure out what the right market is.

I see the things EVERYWHERE, but I have yet to really ever see anyone actually use them.

QR code audience is just not there yet.

I was reading a report that said only about 10% of users even know what a QR code is and what to do when they see one.

I added QR codes to a big site of mine for 14 days and removed them after they got little activity. I generated a QR Code for every new URL of mine and they didnt get any traffic.

We actually put instructions - still didnt work too great in my case

Nagel did a blog post about putting QR codes in Facebook ads a couple of months ago. A pretty interesting idea, and as is typical of Nagel some nice code to play with too.
