"NATO continued its precision strikes against (Gaddafi) regime military installations in Tripoli overnight, including striking a known command and control building in the Bab al-Azizya neighbourhood shortly after 1800 GMT Saturday evening," it said. NATO's commander of Libya operations, Canadian Lieutenant-General Charles Bouchard, said the target was part of a strategy to hit Gaddafi's command centres that threaten civilians."

According to Libya's government report the "command and control center" was a one story house belonging to Gaddafi's youngest son in a residential neighborhood of Tripoli. The youngest son was killed as well as 3 of Gaddafi's grandchildren.

My question is what part did the grandchildren take in operations of the command and control center and what rank did they hold?

Or it's all Gaddafi's lies and no grandchildren have died?

Also why did NATO reject Gaddafi's ceasefire offer? Isn't the objective supposedly to stop the violence?

The ceasefire was rejected because Gaddafi refused to step down. As for the death's of Gaddafi's grandchildren, NATO doesn't care. Many of the "command and control" buildings they're striking are in many cases wrong and/or innocent targets, and NATO is fully aware of that. See NATO bombing of Serbia for more details.

""I am aware of unconfirmed media reports that some of Gaddafi's family members may have been killed," he said. "We regret all loss of life."
I'm sure NATO's regrets mean a great deal to all the people they hit.

"We regret all loss of life. Which is bad because we are gonna regret the shit outta this operation!"

IMO, the 'command and control' aspect of that strike is NATO got a tip that Gaddafi Sr. was in the house - according to Libyan spokesperson, he and his wife were in a different part of the home and escaped this attack unharmed.

He may not have thought they'd bomb in a residential neighbourhood, and this was their way of letting him know he isn't safe anywhere. Real shame about the kids' deaths especially. Gaddafi lost one of his kids when Reagan bombed him in the 80s too.

Similar to this, the Coalition narrowly missed taking out Saddam Hussein in strikes on 'safe houses' once or twice during the Iraq war.
