I've been mulling over an idea but have been hesitant to inquire with my bands about it. If you check out the band forums on UltimateMetal.com (example: Into Eternity - Ultimate Metal Forum ) you'll see I just have the small ad links there. I have been thinking about offering bands on the forum revenue sharing and for those who want to, add a leaderboard adsense spot there. I know it would perform much better on my particular site than those link units.

The headache I envision is, how the heck do I break down the revenue split each month with all the bands (say 30 of them said yes, that's 30 channels to look into).

Does anyone have any ways you can think that I would automate or make this process worth trying out?

Because each band pays $60/year for the forum space. One of the reasons they do is so they get away from the ads on EZboard, Proboards etc.

Ever since jon mentioned something like this i've been putting some thought into it as well. I"m thinkin put each username as a seperate adsense channel. Then each day have a script login to adsense and parse all the channels, impressiosn and how much they've made. Divide the money made by two and display it to the users. When the check arrives have the script pull the check dates and calculate payments to each member. Upon approval have it paypal the proper amounts to them.

still trying to work out the bugs on this one, but its a good idea jon gave.

actually digitalpoint has been doing that for a long time

Engaged has it right, you tell them to sign up for adsense and give you their id, and 50% of the time you use their id. There are two advantages to this:
1) You don't have to worry about paying them
2) Some of them won't bother, so you'll get 100% for the lazy bastids
