I have started several internet based campaigns that are running simultaneously to feed the development of one larger internet-based venture that will be more time consumptive.
At the moment, I've got the larger venture/ site registered as an LLC in DE. I'd like to form a second 'catch-all', or rename and repurpose the LLC already created to form an umbrella holding corporation for all of the web-based ventures. I see the advantages as being:
1. Incorporation for all in DE (No State Income Tax, among other perks).
2. Protection and advantageous court systems for the business.
3. Every website could, then, fall under the same single business bank account, making accounting easier.
The disadvantages are:
1. As an LLC, how do you identify a website as being a part of the organization without registering the domain under a "doing business as" thing?
2. If you are registering a "Doing Business As" (hereinafter "DBA"), it's a county filing (at least in this state) based on your geographic location. While you can register as an LLC in Delaware from anywhere, I'm not located there and am afraid of losing my tax advantage by registering as a foreign LLC in my state of residence. Is it possible to register a DBA as a foreign entity in DE?
3. Having to update this stuff every single time you create a new website or blog is going to cost boku cash in no time (especially if you are prolific about your income streams).
So- my questions:
1. What, if any, incorporation do you have? Are you guys staying sole proprietors and taxing yourselves as self-employed?
2. If you have incorporated/ LLC'ed- do you have a single business bank account all funds go to, and then 'pay yourself' from that?
3. Does anyone have experience registering in DE?
4. Is any of this really necessary at all?
Thanks, in advance. Your responses and insights are appreciated.
