Greetings all!

I am brand new to this forum and have found myself addicted already. The amount of information is so highly valued and I know it will be of assistance as I start out in this business.

My first thoughts were to promote offers with PPC, directly linking to the affiliate offers. However I am now leaning towards starting a blog site with Wordpress and will monetize the site with Adsense and affiliate links. I intend to drive traffic to the blog site via paid search.

So my question is, do I have to purchase a domain name and a hosting plan before I start doing anything with the blog site? Or can I go ahead and start creating the layout and getting the site together before I do anything with the domain or hosting?

Thanks for any insight/ info anybody has to offer this newbie

you could start with the layout right off the bat but it may be harder to work with in terms of testing since you wont have wordpress installed to run trial at every major change you do to your theme.

if anything it couldnt hurt to grab a hosting an a 1.99 info domain for test if you're not sure about the domain name yet.

also keep in mind that PPC -> affiliate offers arent allowed by google and other PPC companies

So I took your advice and I got all that straightened out. Thanks!

Now I'm working on driving traffic. I've got the Google sitemap generator, All in one SEO plugin, I'm using the ping services through Pingoat, and have keywords in my meta tags.

Thanks again!

anytime! good luck with your blog.

make sure you search the newbie section for some blog tutorials, there used to be quite a few good ones (unless they got auto deleted), that included stuff like auto ping list for wordpress, and other things

also check out entrecard its a neat way to earn some credit and advertise on other blogs

i guess i worded that wrong, i meant direct affiliate links, unless the times i've had my campaigns stopped when i first got into ppc by running direct affiliate links straight to the merchant page has nothing to do with it...

it didn't

aside from quality score isnt that the reason landpages exist between the ad and the offer?? or else all similar ads would go directly to the same page... =\

If your going to test new things with wordpress (which is a easy way to do things), check out wordpress Mu....

That way you get ONE MORE word in the domain name, can set things up, and easily add the extra pages to make the quality score go up a bit.

I do a very small amount of PPC using MU and I'm happy with the quality score they get. The fact that I can crank out 10 or 20 templates and have unique ones for each subdomain make it so I can target different ads as well and track easier.
