I travel a lot for work and it would be great to access my home PC from my work PC via RDC. I know I can set up RDC access to my home computer and connect to it when im on the same network. But I need to know what to do in order to access my home PC in Pennsylvania, when I am in a place like Texas.

I've been searching all over google and couldn't find anything. I'm sure someone on here has done this or knows a solution.

All help is appreciated.

Ps I would also consider just having VM ware on a server that I can RDC into, as long as the price is reasonable. That way I don't have to have my home PC on 24/7

Check out teamviewer maybe?

I use that to remote connect to family member's computers when they help with their pc.

I saw that on a forum, but is it truely rdc? Or is it just browser based?

For work I use an amazon cloud and v mware and just rdc into the ip and it works perfectly. Id like something like that just cheaper.

Yea Logmein. However if you need RDP Access from Home ->

Setup Dynamic DNS if you don't have a static IP and port forward 3389 to the IP of your computer. (make sure you set a static, or a dhcp reservation)

How is logmein.com any different/better than the solution lschmidt gave?

I am on DSL BTW and want my IP to not be static ... Is that a problemo?

p.s.

I only want to use RDC to connect. With Team viewer i need to DL their software on both computers .. i don't wanna do that

niggas you are crazy if you install some 3rd party software to allow remote access to your computer. i wouldn't use anything except remote desktop.

Seriously. Now there is another entity you have to worry about keeping your actual PC secure.

Good for novice users but if you have anything worth something I would just setup a VPN and RDP forwarding on your firewall.
