Rules/Guidelines for Monkey Pages?

Are there rules to follow as far as a sucessful monkey/pitch page as far as length. How many paragraphs stuff like that I'm trying not to overwhelm the viewer but also not just throw the offer at them at the same time...

There are no rules for length. Focus rather on quality, not quantity though.

Anyone have any experience with putting the banner ads from the offer on the monkey page along with the text? Is that generally a good or bad thing to do? I'm talking about doing something like a wide banner across the top and a tower ad down the right column, with your sales pitch in the middle.
I'm trying this right now, but not getting enough traffic/clicks to properly test it.

waz67; I have so far tested only with the aff. link in my text - no banners. My theory is that it would seem too much like you are affiliated (no pun intended) with the merchant/offer you are trying to presell. All the sudden your page doesn't look so unbiased anymore.
