Sabotaging An Affiliate Business

Hi

I just wanted to put this out there with respect to promoting online as an affiliate.

If a bad person ever wanted to sabotage my affiliate business that I have worked so hard to build up, all they would really have to do is head over to the local public library (or any public internet access point), sign up for an anonymous yahoo or hotmail account, and send out a bunch of spam using my unique affiliate url’s.

Then, the organizations I am promoting would receive spam complaints against me, my partnerships would be terminated, and my affiliate business ruined.

Before I engage in spending considerable effort on promoting affiliate programs, I need to know if it would really be this easy for anyone to sabotage my business at any point in time? Or, is there anything that can be done to circumvent this?

Even if I direct traffic to my blog or website and somehow cloak or mask my far end landing pages, the complaints would most likely still ultimately end up with the sponsors, and most sponsors are very trigger happy when it comes to terminations.

Any solution?

This wont happen by sabotage, it will happen by the 21 year old kid trying to get into AM for the first time, buying a $99 CD-ROM with 1 billion email names, and trying to mail him. He'll be shut down by his ISP within a few hours but he'll do damage.

Sabotage is the least of your worries.

Roundabout, i'm saying if someone wanted to be a prick and delibratey put me out of business, they can just send out a bunch of unsolicited email from a public internet access point using an annonymous email address and put my unique affiliate url's in them. Then, people would complain to my sponsor companies and they would think i am spamming and abruptly terminate my affiliate partnership with them.
 
If somebody wants to joejob you there isn't much you can do about it. Get hosting that will not shut you down for bullshit joejobs or fake DMCA notices and work with networks that won't fuck you over.

Some peeps will allow you to switch your traffic to another account, and then they can say they shut down the 'spamming' account to appease the ignorant masses without actually impacting you. If you're making decent coin most people aren't going to just turn their backs on your traffic.
 
Why anyone would take the effort to do such a thing is fairly retarded. Not sure what sort of geek enemies you have, but that's a lot of effort for a very minimal end result.

Unless you fucked someones quadriplegic sister I wouldn't worry about it.

You know, I thought you were seriously kidding about the library trip part.

Do you think all the evil spammers who break Can Spam laws and forge headers and pump out Viagra offers all meet at the library after it closes, put on black gloves, masks, and begin typing under flashlights?

There are so many ways someone can attempt to break your balls running a network. Your fears are like a 4 year old afraid of the boogeyman. I assume you did something to someone, and this person is eStalking you or something. Even with 1000 eyes watching your every move, it's easy enough to create a new network and incorporate so theyll never know you own it.

If your network has real people making real money your Advertisers are gonna love you and not cut ties from one spamming account.

I have to run, I need to do some email marketing and Starbucks should be opening soon (they just got WI FI)

You may want to setup a site like prosper202. This will capture all your links and provide you with some defense to you cpa network. Doesn't stop bad from happening, but help proves where traffic is originating from.
 
Every time I go to the library, it's full of spammers. They're everywhere. Like 20-30 of them at least.

All I want to do is hop on the computer real quick and look up the location of a book since my library did away w/ the card catalog system...but there they are. On Yahoo, every fucking machine. Sending out spam emails one by one from a web based interface, ruining some dudes affiliate business by dropping his links in them.
 
"Kevin, you have overdue books totalling $500.00. I'm going to allow the spammers to use my machine now, fucktard, and kill your network. Have a nice day!"

This could totally happen. And an a 9.5 magnitude earthquake could totally happen too. I don't want to spend long hours building an AM empire if I'm just gonna get crushed by a collapsed building. I better give up now.
