Saturate the First SERP

Anyone got any tips for taking the entire 1st page of google over for a little used search term (under 40k results term)?

My thinking is 10 blogs and buying links... what would you guys do?

I already control positions 2, 4, 7, and 11 --- but I've spent too much to get there. Looking for some slicker-smarter ideas.

Actually, Eli has a great post abput this here:

He basically advises to split up a "normal" site abput a topic into subsites..err... different domains / sites for a blog, a community, a review area, etc...

Thanks Emp, very informative article.

I've made some mistakes:

1. I am sharing IP addresses
2. My linkbuilding efforts suck
3. My main site has too much stuff on it for this particular keyword. But that can't change since it ranks high for another important keyword.

I need more sites and more incoming category related links.

Can any of you guys recommend a source for link building? I would prefer to outsource this part of the task.
