Trying to do some research for a company I'm working on, if anyone can take a second and throw down some input it'd be much appreciated.

Looking into the future - 18 months / 36 months from now, where is search heading ie. what trends and changes are likely to be occurring in that time?

Same question with group-buying.. that is growing exponentially?

Are marketers going to have to adapt to keep up?

1.) Marketers are always adapting, non-stop.

2.) Search with guys like Google and Yahoo will probably continue to become more personalized to your specific likes, your friends likes, etc. This will spur a small growth for an "unfiltered" search engine industry, where search engines don't dictate what you see so much. Bing is already capitalizing on that.

3.) Google+ will continue to grow, and if they play their cards right, will become huge. The amount of personal data they'll possess will be hard to imagine even.

4.) Group sharing with hit its plateau, if it hasn't already. Loads of businesses try it, then report back saying it's not worth. They have to offer a discount, give a % to Groupon (or whoever), then don't see enough return customers to make the investment worthwhile.

Repped, that was very helpful. So personalization is the direction, makes sense with the way social media is shaping.

How would these trends affect a marketers job for a client such as Verizon or AT&T?

Would you like me to write your entire college paper for you as well? Come on man, think hard. Obviously, GPS, connected with social networks (G+, FB, etc.), and filter your results accordingly.
