I am starting an affiliate program for a b2b management training company.

Any affiliate advertisers that can shed some light this question?

Why not both?

Some affiliate prefer inhouse and some prefer networks. We run both in tandem and it works ok.

Hmmm....

I have known people to use IdevDirect for their self managed affiliate programs with success. If you use a self managed program then you wont have to pay commissions to the affiliate partnership network. Over time these commissions add up. You have to ask yourself if the amount of time it would take them to manage the program is worth the forgone commission over the long run.

One disadvantage of using your own is that you wont have the benefit of their current affiliate pool.

I think it depends on the product.

Hi Dan,

I agree with Rob (HI rob). Ideally you should give affiliates a choice. However B2B programs are tough to begin with and you may find you can't attract enough affiliates to be worth offering both options. B2B training and travel are way different models.

So start with one option and my 1st choice for MANY reasons would be a network. You don't need to spend 5K to start on CJ. A program like yours would not get good enough ROI there. Look at Shareasale and ShareResults for 2 great lower cost network options.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you for the responses.

Linda - I will look at shareasale and shareresults. Why do you think B2B affiliate programs are difficult?

Rob - Which way did you start? In-house or Network?

A little more info if it helps - This company holds 3-4 simulcasts a year taught by the likes of Covey, Welch, etc. I think a per lead payout would work the best.

Bumping up an old thread - does anyone else have experience using IDevDirect software? I want a self-hosted affiliate system to run a 2-tier affiliate program. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!
