I recently started a blog and am trying to gain search engine ranking. I was wondering if there is a benefit to posting articles over a long steady period of time (1 a day) or should i post as many as i can as soon as i finish writing them? Thanks in advance.

I think one a day or so is better. If you use installed wordpress you can change the post date into the future. It will post when that time comes up.

Very handy so you dont have to keep logging in. Just upload 3 or 4 articles, date them to the future and publish them.

I would trry to stay on the same topic for a few weeks if possible. Should be your main area too. That way the spiders can figure out what your blog is about.

One or two quality posts (relevant to niche) is all you need. Also setup seo plugins like All in one seo plugin, XML sitemap generator plugin and auto social poster which makes life a lot easier with wordpress.

Ive got three articles maybe one is only really good quality. Ive also got the wp search engine plugin. Ive been using wpstats is that any good? i have to get the rest of the plugins loaded. however ive been busy with a webdev class ive been taking anyone good at data binding?:)

Like one other poster stated and i did the same. First 2-3 weeks dailey or until the SE's pick you up then I have found if I can keep 3-4 posts a week Im ok. I'll try to write several posts in one sitting so there is some continuity. Then publish as needed.

All In One SEO plugin helps some.

I've found that posting 2 to 3 times a week at the start and then gradually picking up the pace is a little better. Until the search engines are trained to visit your site every day, you run the risk of pushing a post off the front page before they have a chance to visit. YMMV.

It's very probable on wordpress.com blogs as well. Judicious use of tags can get you some traffic.

self hosted wordpress? Not unusual if he is pinging the right services and has unique enough content. The rss scrapers will grab some posts and you get some backlinks that way.

It is a self hosted blog. All the content is original. I also have the phpbay store going but i dont know if that helps...

My 2 cents:
Use some smart link dropping techniques leaving your link on other blogs in the same niche by commenting on their topics. You can buy links on other blogs too (on blogs in the same niche as yours), since having your link appear on each page of the blog is better than having it appear on just one (the page where you've posted a comment with a link to your blog).
Always make sure you aren't being a spammer because other blog owners won't like it. However, you can use your spammy techniques on other spammy blogs but don't ruin the cleaner ones.
