That's understandable. But you made that particular comment to a guy who asked "sescout down?"...

That's not acceptable, I'm sorry. He didn't ask why you weren't working around the clock to fix it. He was looking to see if it was down for everyone or just himself.

If someone is outright rude to you, of course you're going to defend yourself. But some of these long winded and snooty replies are just causing more frustration for people.

Sorry the sarcasm wasn't meant in a cynical way, I can see how it was may come off as such.

Also we are working hard at finding the best balance between a generic "we are working on such and such" and "such and such isn't working because...we are working on a fix now".
 


We are always honest and open about issues that occur with our service. Unfortunately that simply isn't enough for some people. Instead of suggesting a 5% refund for service downtime, people demand 30 days of free usage or full refunds (and continued service). I could spend two full weeks refunding hundreds of customers 5% in paypal, or spend two full weeks making SEscout a more stable and respectable product. Which would you prefer? This is the reason any sort of "mass" refund or crediting of some sort is unjustifiable at this point. This is also part of the reason for the switch to a new payment system.

The logistics of running an hourly based service are extremely complicated. People don't realize that in actuality the downtime is rather small. When a daily SERP tracker goes down, you lose days of service, not hours (yes it happens all the time, why do you think we created SEscout to begin with). Even at our rockiest times, you still get more SERP updates a day then you do with the best daily SERP tracker.

In no way am I saying we don't give a shit about wickedfire, for obvious reasons we wouldn't be around if it weren't for most of our users here. I'm simply stating that providing complete refunds or free months of usage for all of our users isn't a viable option as we aren't a small forum based service anymore.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a new SERP tracker, really I do. People are quick to shout at us and call us dishonest, unethical or pathetic, yet simply canceling their account and requesting a refund seems to be the last thing on their minds. We aren't a cell phone company, you have no contract of usage with us. The joy of an open market is that you are free to leave and find something better at any time.

We aren't here to kiss peoples asses and beg for forgiveness. To everyone that has been with us since the beginning we thank you, as you are the type of customers that make what we do a joy, and the reason we are still around.

What I'm saying is that I LOVE the service when it works. But I'm hesitant to upgrade because I'd be "losing" a lot more money during another bad downtime.

Not sure what the solution really is... maybe the $30/month accounts are as-is, but once you start getting into the high-end accounts, those deserve a bit more care in terms of refunding when things get ugly. I can take a day or three down per month. But beyond that, I'd need a better guarantee before giving you $1000/year.

Can you please give us an update on what's being worked on right now?

My G rankings have been wrong for weeks and I haven't seen bing rankings at all for weeks either. It's always awaiting update..

Any ETA? I just want more information....
 
My Google rankings are very accurate and updating hourly now. Bing rankings are still "gathering Data" but I really don't need Bing data.

Good to hear. Bing will be back in commission shortly after backlinks and pagerank are in place. Yahoo made some changes to siteexplorer that we have adjusted to in development and will be pushing live soon.

I do wish bing would work more... I get a lot of constant traffic from bing... Half as much as teh googlez, easily.

well I go here - Search engine rank tracker (SERP TRACKER) used by top SEOs and since I can't sign up for a paid account right away I click on https://users.sescout.com/register - there I enter all my stuff - but clicking on the button does not do anything, it looks like it loads up for me but then nothing happens. (Tried several times from different computers)

Anyway, please let me know when your service is out of Beta testing so I can sign up for it :)

Hm more than likely you are using an existing username or email address (error reporting on the form does appear broken). Try switching that and it should work. Have you ever had an SEscout account?

yes, in fact I had a SEscout account - the 49.97 one that I used for 3 months. After the first month you somehow downgraded me to "Free" - but still kept charging the $49.97 for two months after that until I cancelled the subscription.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with me trying to register a new account though. Please look into this.

Anyone else not receiving hourly updates? My rankings seem to update every 12 hours at 3 AM and 3 PM.

Do you have a free account? I think that SEscout said that the updates on the free accounts were going back to once or twice a day.

I have a paid account and it is updating hourly and it have been very accurate when I manually check the Google results. I'm not too sure about the Bing updates and the accuracy.

Nah, I'm paid. I submitted a ticket 4 days ago and PM'd backlinksguru 2 days ago - haven't heard back.

A few weeks ago my updates were right to the hour and perfectly accurate like yours though. So I'm not sure what happened.
 
Why does it take like 2-3 hours after the day rolls over to get fresh rankings reported?
