I am in a partnership in a new pharmaceutical/supplement product that has yet to be widely marketed and would like set up our own affiliate program for said product.

Can anyone here make any recommendations on software to use or methods/recommendations for perhaps hooking into some of the already existing networks to help bring this product to the masses? I could use a little tutoring.

Ideally I would also like to sign up some of the better pill slingers here as I think they will find this extremely attractive as it as yet a completely untapped market. Unlike trying to compete with everyone else pushing the berries and viagra, there's no one to compete with yet on this product. This has huge potential.

That is certainly an option and one which I am considering, thanks. Just looking at all options and putting the word out there that we are going to be moving on this soon, and in the process maybe someone will suggest something I hadn't thought of.

Cheers!

I would say start with building some good merchant relationships, low chargeback costs, multiple backups etc. If you need a wholesaler who helps with the labeling etc for under $4 a box/bottle whatever let me know I have someone who is pretty good.

Good advice regarding merchants. As far as wholesaling, packaging, etc. that is already in place.

BigWill, it'll be a few days before I can share the finer details, as there are a few loose ends to tie up contractually, but once that happens I will send out info to anyone who's expressed interest.

If you're serious, Aquasis has the best advice thus far. In short, INFRASTRUCTURE is going to be the key as to whether you succeed in the 'negative-option' space. Merchant accounts, sourcing, shipping - those are going to be the keys (especially from a 'real company'/traditional brick & mortar sense) that will grow your business properly.

Whatever solution you end up going with, make sure you can track quality (assuming negative option rebills) on a per network and per publisher basis. Due to some affiliates using incentives, being straight up fraud, or being misleading in ad copy, quality can vary widely between affiliates. Keeping a close eye on quality and either cutting publishers or adjusting commission rates down can be key to staying at your goal profitability.

Idev affiliate is decent software, but if you want to get good affiliates, which are afraid of shaving, then you'll want to look into a 3rd party software solution. Is the product you're talking about a pharmaceutical, or a supplement/neutraceutical? Big difference between the two.
