How much information do you share with your AM? Do you go as far as telling them some of your keywords (for whatever reason) or do you not even tell them the URL of your site? Just wondering, because I want to ask my AM some questions but don't want to share to much information. Its with Copeac by the way.

speaking from my personal experience, I wouldn't. Telling my AM's what I have been doing has never really led me anywhere. They look at my landing pages and barely tell me anything substantial. Plus, I've experienced AM's just straight out telling me what other affiliates are doing lol. I won't name any names, but yea... it's all up to you :)

I would never tell an AM my keywords no matter what aff company they are. ive been asked this before and just told them i dont share that info

I don't let them know anything that I can stop them from knowing.

No keywords, no url's...what good can come of it? I have AM's who suggest offers to me and then show me their other affiliates landing pages or a sampling of their keywords. Whenever an AM does this I just sit there thinking, god damn I'm glad they don't know my info.

I would say if you trust your AM and have been working with them for a long time its ok to share ideas. Only the shady AM's will use your info against you. Just remember if you arnt making money than neither is your AM. It is not advantageous for an AM to "screw you over"

Oh, how wrong you are. It's absolutely advantageous for an AM to screw you over. Sharing your profitable campaign data with as many of their affiliates as possible is the easiest way for them to maximize their affiliates' revenue, thus making themselves more money. Other than the original affiliate possibly leaving for a different network in the extremely unlikely event that they found out, where exactly are the disadvantages you speak of?

was thinking the same thing, it's a conflict of interests

I might be a little more cagey if I was earning more than $10/month at this game :)

Having just joined yet another network ( MarketLeverage ), I'm being pretty open with Kyle, my AM. I've given him "example" sites, where he can see what I'm doing with regards to landing pages and keywords.

Not _all_ of my info, mind you, just enough for him to get an idea of what I'm doing.

Of course, then I had to go and blow it by asking "If I post a message to craigslist asking a prospect to email me for more information, and that just goes to an autoresponder, is that a web promotion or an email promotion" ... I think he hates me now.

LOL!

Speaking as an AM, if people DO talk to me, I always qualify it with a "Are you cool if I talk to other affiliates about some of the stuff we're talking about now?"
If they say no, I keep my trap shut to my other subs about it, but occasionally I get tempted to use some of the stuff myself.
I try to avoid directly competing with my own subs though, as I mostly run offers that aren't available to them, or aren't even on our network. I like to pretend I have some ethical inclinations after all :D

Landing pages, I'll help with as much as possible, but I usually tell subs that while it works for me if they tell me their keywords, I'm not actively going to ask as it's kinda the same as a trade secret.

But yeah, chances are, your AM will either use the info themselves on their own campaigns, or if they're not running any, they'll share them with other affiliates.
We make our money when our subs make money. Subs make more money, we make more money.
It's pretty obvious what most people will do to advantage themselves.

Do not tell them shit. IF they ask how you get your traffic, tell them you bought a billboard on I-75 with your domain name on it. They can and will spread your info. Don't pass your keywords through either, that's like giving them the campaign.

Yeah, I wouldn't share too much either, especially if you're with a less scrupulous network. If you inform them you're doing pretty well with x campaign and y keywords, then what's to stop them from sharing that info with an affiliate that has a bigger cash flow and more experience than you? They only stand to make more money.

I agree, havent you guys ever had an AM show you someone else landing page or tell you what their other affiliates are doing, but your supposed to keep it a secret.

They want you to make money so they can make more

A fun game to play is telling your AM that you are banking with obviously bullshit keywords for a given offer, then watch as they try and replicate (watching the google ads pop up for keywords that no-one else was advertising previously).

There are a lot of asshole AM's, just don't give away the keys to your empire. And it's really easy to see who's doing it too.

Very easy to find out if your AM is feeding your info elsewhere.
