Sharks go nuts over this guy's mobile app

Mark and Robert are notorious for expediting the negotiations with the contestants. They constantly force them into do or die situations before all the information is leaked. They get bitch slapped once with the same BS and they're crying foul? Ha!

The reason they were angry was because the kid had no idea how much money he needed to succeed. He had no backend and was entering all the scholarship information manually.

Laurie just wanted to stick it to them at the expense of this kids future and used "believing in him" as the reason. The others knew that it would cost a shit ton more than $40k to scale that properly.

Also....you just successfully got me to debate the happenings on a reality TV show. I never thought it would happen. Congrats.

I was actually mad myself because I wanted to hear more about this app.

How the fuck did he enter 30,000 scholarships manually. It doesn't even make sense. Clearly some valuable information was missed. However Cuban, O'leary and Herjavec should have jumped in before he made his decision and said "listen kid, if you stay patient and listen to all offers, you might get way more than what you came for!" and he would have probably waited. Their fault for giving him the time to think.

All in all though, great app idea. Also the fact that the kid got $1.3 million in scholarshipss makes the marketing job soooo easy. I'm actually jealous.

To hand though, I can't think of any situations where they did it as early as this, especially not where the answers to key questions weren't immediately obvious. They may get in to some deals fairly early, but that's because both are pretty tech minded and smart, and can fill in the gaps/the gaps aren't important. Can you name any other situations that don't fit that? Obviously things are cut down for TV, so it's hard to tell for certain (this was apparently after 10 minutes, normally it takes an hour), but all the ones I can think of where they've stepped in quickly it's been possible to fill in the gaps.

I wonder what percentage of students are actually smart enough to qualify for scholarships? Less than 1%?

Wayyyyy higher than that.

They have some really stupid scholarships with barely any minimum requirements that need to be met to 'qualify'.

Do you have gay parents?

Have you been a rape victim and have at least a 3.0 GPA ?

Are you black?

BOOM! if you answered yes to any of those, you can apply.

Publicity stunt... If I had to bet, I'd bet they worked it out beforehand and did this dog and pony staged fight to try and go viral for as much exposure as possible to promote the thing... can't knock the hustle though.
