Okay, so I'm fairly new to affiliate marketing.
I have a site up and everything, Weight loss - weight loss products online - affordable diets
I spent about $300-400 in PPC campaigns.
I made about $170 total, not even enough to cover the expenses.

So my question here is, what can I do to make this work better, and how I can make a lot more money with it?
Where should I actually start? Is clickbank a good idea to promote?
Should I lose the free weight loss trials on my site?
Should I stick with PPC and just improve my game or what?

So pretty much, I know how to create websites, I know little about affiliate marketing and PPC Campaigns.

If I have a $500 budget, and I have absolutely no other source of income, what would be the best way to spend these 500 bucks? PPC, or by other means?

btw, I'm only 18, and I'm trying to get in the money early in life, growing up in a poor family isn't too much fun, so I'm trying to turn things around for myself.

Any information at all is helpful, thank you!

Split test with another landing page, and on both of them install something like ClickHeat

ClickHeat | Clicks heatmap

watch where people click on your site, and improve the CTR of your ads overall.

Don't give up on a campaign until you're really sure it can't make any money. Check out what competitors are doing with their LPs and adcopy(not suggesting stealing, because they could just be testing too).

use Prosper202 to track clicks and conversions: Prosper202 Self Hosted Apps

Little things can help even, like changing the 2009 to 2010 on your site, adding more places for people to click through to offers, etc. Like I said though, split test with other lander styles and give it a go again.

If you're like me and can't design for shit pay someone to do it for you or buy a some prepackaged landing pages here in BST. You will easily make the money you spent back in high conversion rates.

Feedback:

Too dark

Add product shots

Add benefits / testimonial statements, build on the emotions the products delivered for people, not a product description of each.

As seen on badges...

2010 Diets not 2009

Split test

Thanks for the replies!
I'll be sure to try out what you guys said.

But really, should I continue with this site? maybe redesign it?
What I'm trying to say is, is there potential in making a lot of money just by promoting this site with free diet/health trials?

If there is potential with this site, I'll turn it around, but I don't want to waste my time or money trying to get this going if it can't really go anyway, you know what I mean?

So what are your opinions, keep going with this site, or start promoting other offers?

Thanks for help!

Try to tell a story.

Lead in with the ppc ad --> landing page headline --> presell ---> call-to-action

Ya, like everyone is saying, too dark, cant even see the links. I bet your CTR from the lp to the offer wasnt that good because the links don't stand out. Here's a hint ,people like what there use to seeing, what color are links usually?

100% on redesign!

way too dark, too green, not flashy enough. look at other landers they're flashy for a reason.

seriously, that green makes me feel sick.

best advice might be to look at other landers (don't click ads, copy the links and paste them into your browser) and try to "get" the feeling. copy the vibe, not the lander.

Okay, so I'll definetely be redesigning the site.
Does it really matter how much the site has to load for the viewer?
like 50kb compared to 600kb? of course it's smaller and quicker to load, but should I pay attention to this, or does it not really matter anymore?
I just want to know if I should keep a minimal to the design I'm making for the site.

thanks for the help guys.

Cut down as much as you can on HTTP requests if you want to improve load time perception for your visitors.

The page definitely needs a redesign, a lighter design and a smaller header height wise.

I think you could have broken even or made a profit if you had a better landing page...do you still have a good Adwords quality score for your keywords?

I haven't logged my adwords account in a couple months now.
This is a project I started and just gave up on, but thought I might be able to do something with it now. So I'm not too sure about the quality score of my keywords right now.

Also, if I'm spending $500 on keywords, should I spend it in a few days on kewords, or should I spread it out over about a month? spend about $16 a day, or $250 in 2 days?

You're giving people a lot of options on types of diet pills. acai, resv, goji, hoodia - all over the map with this. Split test with a site that only has one, for example multiple acai offers (but only acai)

like:
acai berry select
acai berry actives
acai berry actives cut
acai berry select cut
???

so I should list like what's above on a test page? and see if it works better than a variety of different products?

I'll be sure to try everything you guys mentioned.
I appreciate the help.

The site I get the offers from took away all free trials for now and made them free lifetime offers with purchase of membership. Should I still advertise these? are they profitable? I earn $15 more per sale now that they changed it too, so I'm happy about that, but I think they'll be harder to give away now that people have to pay for a membership, or does that not really effect anything?

also, on my new website I'm designing, I'm making different pages for the site, such as, Top Offers, eBooks, Products, Free Offers, Newsletter...
Should I have different pages like this with all affiliate offers, or would one page with the top offers like I already have do better than this???

thanks.

Rebills on Google?

How long do you think you'll get away with this before they ban you? A lot has changed in the last few months.

what do you mean rebills on google? you're not allowed to promote free trial offers that have recurring payments on google?

and the new lifetime offers don't have re-bills, they pay a one time membership fee.

Google banned lots of affiliates in the last few months, search these forums about it.

Rebills are high on their hit list and as far as these "lifetime" offers, I believe they might have recurring charges for club membership or something like that.

You should double-check the offer terms and charges. Anyhow, it might be worth taking a chance.
