Should I learn how to design or how to code? Or BOTH?

I've been doing all of the exercises in the w3school site and I am a lot further than I was a couple of weeks ago, albeit still terrible. I have also been on PSDtuts and attempted a few of the beginner tutorials there as well. Me being a noob I wanted some opinions from you guys as to which skill (design or coding) you see as being the most important in the future of AM. Maybe I need to learn both? Or should I just worry about marketing and forget those aspects of the business all together. I'm just looking for honest advice (shouldn't be a problem on this forum) because all of this just seems like information overload right now with me trying to learn everything I need to know about AM.

My thoughts. Get good enough at basic graphic design and coding so you can create decent looking landing pages and sites for your AM work. Hell, I do 90% of everything with Wordpress these days, but you still need to know some HTML at the bare minimum to make shit work the way you want. If you were wanting to create the next facebook or twitter, I would say go blind learning how to code, but if you want to do AM, find niches, put together some sites the best way you know how and start marketing them.

You should just learn HTML once you understand that language then everything else comes by DOING IT and experience,

once you understand basics of HTML and page structure and start building pages and get to the part that you need to use CSS , PHP everything will be much more clear to understand and learn.

but there's no CODING needed in AM , most scripts are free and just need to be implemented which that's were understanding html comes in .

pretty much what there saying learn a lil html then go to css and then php and mysql. If u wanna get fancy smancy

+1

Learn enough html, css, php, and sql so that you can look at code and at least understand what it's doing and how to make a quick fix, but not so much that you can build a website or php script from scratch in notepad. With so many scripts, apps, and cheap labor I don't think it's a necessary skill.

Well, if you try hard you can learn some basic stuff so that you can edit the code either in html or php, BUT if you feeling that you won't be able to learn that much either then the best route to follow in that condition will be to outsource tech stuff, and concentrate on marketing.

I bolded the key statement.

If you're looking to be a full time affiliate marketer, you won't have time to design or code, instead start investing in networking with designers and coders to make the pages as you need them, so that you can concentrate on the actual affiliate marketing side of things.

I'd only learn it to start making money if you're short on cash to start out, or to be familiar enough to start fixing things that are wrong with a script and able to afford to outsource design/code. If you're going straight to AM, to the latter. I'd go that way if I had cash AND had little knowledge of design/code.

Design or coding doesn't make you money -- selling things does.

Just use a HTML editor to edit the template. Some of my landing website is UGLY AS SHIT, but I made money ($5000 on a $2 payout with free advertisement)

Lear the minium design/coding, invest more time in copywriting and getting traffic

Yes, this is so true, concentrate on the copy and traffic, that's way more important.

Like others said, not much Coding/Design skills are needed for AM. Its best to concentrate on creatives, copywriting skills and above all PERSISTENCE.

You can always outsource. But if I had to choose between the two, i would go with coding. Learn a bit of html like others have mentioned and you'll be fine.

Just learn HTML. It should only take you a few days to learn everything anyways because it's not that hard. As for design.. if you want to learn the basics then go for it. Most of the landing pages you see from affiliates all over the web are shitty as fuck anyway haha.. so it's not like not knowing how to design is gonna hold you back from anything.
