So I've been doing a lot of planning and false starting, thinking, and all the usual. I know I should do it - and stop waiting for the green light.

A question though - when building affilaite sites, do you build them around the products you are promoting?

Such as guitar site -

Acoustic guitar reviews, Electric giuitar reviews, amp reviews, guitar data feed etc.

OR do you build your site to serve the niche market with information on their interest.

guitar example again -

How to play X on guitar, how to tune guitar, how to read music, how to read tabs

... and then hey if your reading this you may be interested in X product...

I'm sure they're are better exmaples. But do you get what I mean?

Exactly. Stop waiting. Get busy. Do something. Register a couple of domains and start working on site development. Normally, you will get additional ideas while you're in the midst of the project (make sure you are half-organized and write down your new ideas). If you're lucky, you'll get so many ideas you won't be able to incorporate them all into one site and you'll have to do another. Once you've developed a couple of sites you'll be an expert and pretty soon you'll be making serious bank :)

You don't have to think so much... In fact, if you get started, you will see things you will never see before and whatever you think in the beginning would change dramatically.

So just do it!

electrojham your right, not thinking to match.

Just Do It - Go For It - Try both
