So has anyone used Windows 8 and decided to stick with it?

I just spent the last week testing out Windows 8 and I really hoped I would like it, but I just don't. The whole "metro" thing is nice in theory, but it makes multitasking and productivity a pain in the ass.

I guess I'm just too old to mess with Linux on a desktop again (seriously, after 17 years of running Linux, I still can't just install it without having to worry about the horrible driver support) and I'm not an Apple fan, so I guess I'll be sticking with Windows 7 for the next few years... which isn't really an issue, since I've never had a single issue with Windows 7.

The one thing I really did like about Windows 8 was the design. Clean lines, no gradients/3d effects/etc... but that was easily fixed by finding a nice Windows 8 based theme for Windows 7. Screenshot:

Anyway... I haven't talked to a single person who has tried Windows 8 and plans on sticking with it. So I'm curious, is there anyone on WF who is using it now enough to continue using it?

Windows 8 has a normal desktop like Windows 7 and also the Metro interface, right?

Can't you just only use the normal desktop?

I got a few of the themes from Skin Pack

But I find little things that annoy me about most of them so I end up uninstalling.

Will probably get Windows 8 if it offers everything 7 does plus whatever they've improved.

I'm waiting for the the RTM to hit MSDN in the next couple of days then I'm switching permanently.

But then I'm biased since I'm a Microsoft fanboy.

Just go into IRC channel for linux and say 'linux sucks because it doesn't have driver support for xxx, windows does it better' and some neckbeard linux professor will fix that shit for you.

That desktop actually looks kinda slick. Much better than the garbage metro interface..

I don't like the metro style, I don't like the new GUI.
I'd rather stick with Windows 7 which is an OS I actually like a lot.

Windows 7 is the new XP and 8 is a shiny Vista. Sit tight bros, Windows 9 is where it's at if history repeats itself

Yeah, there's a desktop, but it's not exactly the same and there is no start menu. You either have to clutter up the taskbar/desktop with a million icons or you are forced into metro when you need to open a new program. And a lot of shotcuts/etc will automatically throw you into metro as well. It becomes a huge distraction and takes you out of your work flow. The desktop is more of an app itself now, than an actual desktop.
