I just checked and their site is back down... haven't gotten any emails from them either.

This lack of communication is getting really lame.

As much as I think Chickenhole is a spamming tool, and I would never use Millnic as long as he is associated with them, nobody deserves to have their business destroyed in this manner, if that is indeed what is still happening.

funny I just talked to Violet on AIM a few minutes ago, here's our conversation:

RomeStarz (1:09:46 PM): I have not been able to login to millnicmedia for over a week, once I click login it just goes to https://millnicmedia.directtrack.com/ and says The connection has timed out
millnicViolet (1:11:20 PM): Yeah, so have you ben to our blog?
millnicViolet (1:11:28 PM): MillNic Media Blog - The Best CPA network
RomeStarz (1:11:30 PM): o no
millnicViolet (1:12:03 PM): DT cant protect us from teh attack, so it is super slow under the traffic... sometimes we do go up, but yeah, the time out is due to the strain
RomeStarz (1:12:28 PM): so it will come back eventually and I haven't lost the money in my account?
millnicViolet (1:13:55 PM): what yo uhave earned is still there, and in fact payments have beengoing out on time. If you arentbeing paid weekly, you will still get net15 payments
millnicViolet (1:14:21 PM): however, if the client who clicks the links isnt getting to teh ad, that means there could, during the last two weeks not been converting
millnicViolet (1:14:28 PM): and there isnt much we can do about that
RomeStarz (1:14:41 PM): ok, thank you

Aeiouy -

You have made it very clear that you dislike Chickenhole. Do you feel the need to jump into any Millnic Thread just to bash Jason and Millnic?

I do not think you would have the same demeanor if your business was being destroyed by an attack.

But feel free to jump in and bash all you want.

Dan

I expressed sympathy for your situation and plight. It sucks and it shouldn't be happening. But it is what it is. I didn't hire chickenhole to work out Millnic. I have a big problem with people who run around blatantly scamming and lying to other people and acting like it is no big deal.

Regardless, I hope things get back on track for your soon. IF there is anything I could do I would be more than happy to help, but I don't have any idea what that would be.

I might completely be out of track, but if this whole thing is due to a DDOS attack it could be mitigated, any reputable datacenter would be able to handle this, DDOS are not a remote thing...
there are DDOS protection appliances and solutions that directtrack (or who runs their servers) should have in place (and I'm really surprised they haven't)
DDOS protection has to be in place before this kind of stuff happens, specially if we're talking about companies that base their business on the tracking system reliability

So why are millnic being attacked. Is it because they are doing dodgy stuff. I am not affiliated with this network, but still would like to know as I have a big interest in the affiliate network industry.

I have nothing against millnic but from a sheet business point of view anyone who's still running on a network that you might be timing out and dropping conversion because not enough bandwidth to handle it or whatever reason it's a black and white business decision... network a I get all my leads network b I don't, cause your connections timeout do you not have to pay for the PPC traffic?

There are DDoS attacks you cannot protect against. If somebody really hates you, he can keep your site down virtually indefinitely. If you know some programming, learning how to do this isn't difficult at all.

thats how i understand it also,if you get hit by a few thousands PCs from a Bot-net,little you can do.Even if you block or drop all incoming ICMP packets, or wichever protocol is used,at the border gateways/routers all the bandwich will be eaten up.But then again, wtf do i know.
