Statistics Book Recommendations?

I wanted to take a look at some statistics book out there... if anyone can recommend some "for dummies" ones, that'd be most excellent.

I never took a statistics course in college... and looking back on it i probably should have.

It truly depends on what you want to achieve with it.

If you are looking at it for marketing, get a statistics book for marketers / economists.

Different approach than statistics for say, geneticians or social scientists.

Could just go down to your nearest college's bookstore and grab what the class requires. Most textbooks are actually decent reads, in class we always just jumped from chapter to chapter which made 'em suck.

Schaum's Guides are pretty solid and concise ways to learn technical material.

Try "Struck by Lightning" by Jeffrey S. Rosenthal, it's a fairly recent book and basically about the use of statistics in the modern day world, with strong link to probability.

Also, it contains the details of how the author predicted the last USA presidential election.
