I created my website over 18 months ago, we rank on page 1 and 2 in Google's listings for four main search terms, we have a steady stream of traffic coming to the website but revenue has not yet surpassed £50 per month.

I have experimented with various advertisers like ad sence but to no avail, I have resized and placed the ads in high click hot spots above the fold etc. but again to no avail.

I then contacted associated businesses direct to seek advertising, again nothing became of this.

We even created an Amazon store and started selling products from a third party were we received a small percentage from each sale, this made less revenue than ad sense itself.

Im just thinking there are options out there to monetise my website but as yet I have not found them, we have a page rank of "4" so the site is pretty established website.

Just trying to figure out if Im wasting my time with regards to making money from this website, way to much time is injected into this website and Im beginning to think my time could be better spent by focusing on a different project.

As you can see I have tried several different options from advertising with google, advertising direct to associated companies, and even selling products, If anyone has any information it would be most appreciated.

the website is theboxinghistorian {.} com

Questions:
Exactly how many monthly unique visitors are you getting, and do you know the geographic distribution of your traffic? (i.e. 60% uk, 30% us, etc)

Suggestions:
1) make your site appear (dynamically) in the center of the browser, not locked in the far left
2) make clicking on a headline go to the expanded article, not just the 'read more'
3) fix your meta title as it's currently doubled
4) make it a priority to capture user email, beyond the login/register form at the top -
perhaps force them to join your list before they can get the content they want - maybe even make the first thing they see a pop-up box offering them a bit of free content to entice them to join the list. every targeted email you capture is worth money money money to you. how many emails have you currently captured? do you mail to your list at all?
