Steve Jobs was a terrible CEO, according to this person

I'll be harsh here. She worked at Apple from 2008-2010 and didn't know what Steve Jobs looked like -- if that's not embarrassing enough she then goes down the line on how to manage a huge organization. I should also point out that she claims she would never work for Apple again but she is currently working no where and is a mother full-time (which is fine, but bending truth).

Maybe being nice isn't a huge component in being successful or an icon... Just a thought.

Everybody tries to kick a dead lion. Whether it is a true story ot not Steve Jobs formed the way we live today to a certain degree. Try doing the same and being a nice guy in the process - and you will be known even better than Steve.

Steve Jobs undoubtedly made great achievements, and his drive was crucial to Apple. However, it's always interesting to hear different opinions.

how do you know he wasn't a nice person in the first place, did you spend time with the guy?

she doesnt need to know what steve jobs looks like any more than he needs to acknowledge here remarks on how to run his business

Guys, I need to share something with you: I have online marketing cancer, I see linkbait and viral attempts everywhere now. It's very hard for me to read stories like these and think they're genuine, especially when at least 5 different providers have been offering me "editorial posts" on BusinessInsider and Medium.com for $XXX in the past couple months.

I don't know who to fucking trust anymore when it comes to legit news, the Internet is fucked...

She sounds like she comes with a ton of baggage: bad attitude, indignation, closed to criticism, demand for respect (earned or otherwise), etc.

It's 2015 and she's still upset about Steve Jobs? C'mon.

can I get a hell yeah?

No.

No, you can't.

Is it just me, or does anyone else not quite understand what the grievance is?

Ok, he cut in line at a sushi kiosk, which I guess is a little rude, but hardly worth complaining about, especially considering he's the guy paying your mortgage.

Then the team requested to do a half-assed product launch, to which management replied, "no, get yourselves sorted, because we expect a full, proper product launch". When the launch went balls up, Steve Jobs got angry at the team for not delivering, which seems like a pretty acceptable and normal response to me.

That lady shouldn't be complaining.

However, Steve Jobs was a pretty shitty person. Read this:

That book was excellent. And the truth is he was quite a shitty person, but that had no bearing on his greatness.

I spent the first half of that book waiting (or wanting) someone to punch him in the face, but at some point in the book it was impossible for me to not appreciate the scope of his success.

Maybe the former Senior Engineering Project Manager of Apple should read the book too and get off her 'he's a bit of a dick' high horse. I did.

Did you see this comment on BI:

"Tom Scott on Jun 19, 6:10 AM said:
I worked at Apple with Erin. I can honestly say she was substantially less than adept at her job. She didn't fit in with the culture and didn't understand the mission. It seems like she breaks out the link bait every couple of years when she needs consulting business. She has been peddling this story since at least 2011. Is it true that Steve yelled at the .mac team for the steaming pile of dung they released, it sure was. Did they deserve it? Sure did. I wouldn't be waving the .mac banner around too much if I were her."

From reading books about him, from hearing what his associates told about him etc.

nope, heard stories many times, some of them being told in the book mentioned above.

One of the most widely known was about the first iPod design process.

The goal was to make the world's smallest music player. Team worked their asses off to meet the readline. 2 days befire the date they showed Jobs a thin box, which, undoubtedly, was the smallest player by that time.
However, Steve was not satisfied. "It's too big", he said. The team said there was no way to make it smaller.
Then Jobs took the very first iPod in the history, worth millions of dollars of innovations and put it into the aquarium in his office. The team was close to losing conscience and stood horrified, looking at small air bulbs in the water.
"You see the air bulbs?", Steve Jobs said. "It means there was air in it. Empty space, which should be removed. Make it smaller"
And they made it smaller, and iPod was the beginning of a new era, just as many other Apple products we use daily.

That is why Steve Jobs was great. And that is why he was not "nice". He just devoted 100% of his effort to reach the goal and expected the same from his staff.

Of course he was an asshole, and I think that goes without question.

On the flip side, Apple did at one point fire him, only to hire him back later, at which point he turned it into the company it is today with an estimated market cap of $1 trillion ($1,000,000,000,000). Sorry, but I think he earned the right to be an asshole, and nobody can deny his achievements.

If the little misuses that wrote the article wants to get pissy because she got yelled at once, that's her problem, nobody else's.
