Ok, here we are again....
I have tried 2 different layouts... here are examples of both. (Please take note that I'm not using the american flag niche)
http://www.articleelf.com/americanflag
http://www.articleelf.com/antispam

I've tried paying different amounts for my ads ranging from $.02-$.07 per click. All my niches have over 100 related keywords. One of my niches got 123 clicks today with a WHOPPING 8 clicks..that's a 6.5% CTR! An this is pretty much how it has been every day! My best day CTR has been 8.16% which only earned me $2.01. But I did have one day that had a lower CTR but earnings of $7.55 which was the only day that I did profit.

WHAT ON EARTH AM I NOT DOING RIGHT??? :angryfire:

I thought that my anti spam niche would do very well...was I wrong to think that or are neither of the layouts good? OH, btw...I did use your layout chrislingle that you had in your arbi test thread just to see if it was my original layout that wasn't doing well, hope you don't mind.

But seriously guys, I need some major advice on this, b/c I'm doing all I can think of.
Is it my niches? Is it my layouts? I just don't know what is going on. Why can't I get a good CTR?

I find your flag site to be offensive in that you are profiteering off 911 indirectly with regards to the photo of the flag being raised over the wreckage.

Also you should put the ads below the text or in the middle of the text so that while the visitor is reading the content he sees the ads without having to divert his attention. Having the ads to the side or close to the footer isn't as effective.

I can't see how anybody can be offended by that site, but some american's are just weird.

here is an idea, what is the keyword that is doing the best for you in terms of clicks? take that word out of your list and make a page targeting that 1 word, if there are enough good high paying keywords you should get a better click through rate. Also play with your templates, watch your clicks and say every 25 clicks in 7search turn the ad off, waite an hour and see what your ctr is in adsense. if it is not to your liking change your template and retest. just some ideas lol

Using the 911 flag raising photo for commercial purposes. I find it offensive and I'm sure others do as well.
Well do you find this image offensive when used in commercial purposes (hint: take a look at any WWII DVD-boxes or books):
250px-WW2_Iwo_Jima_flag_raising.jpg

and by the way, that photo is staged.

Thanks for sticking with the topic of conversation chrislingle! I guess that other guy completely missed the part where I was saying that I don't use that american flag niche. Oh well. I'll do a little tweaking as you've mentioned and see what happens. Thanks!

I saw documentary about the photographer and he said it's staged because the first time around he had some crap on the lens or there was bad reflection from the sun. Something like that, I can't remember for sure, it was some time ago. So that video could be "the real" one and soldiers raised the flag again after that and then the photographer shoot the picture.

*edit* I found something about this in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raising_the_Flag_on_Iwo_Jima#Publication_and_staging_controversy
There was two different flag raising, first one was photographed by Lou Lowery and second one with the bigger flag was photographed by Joe Rosenthal who became famous because of that photo. Quote from Wikipedia (Henry Hansen page): "A different group of Marines later replaced by the first flag with a second, larger, flag, and a photograph of the second flag raising by Joe Rosenthal became famous."

Not to beat an off topic discussion, but the photo of the Iwo Jima flag raising was that ended up being taken was staged. They raised the flag twice--once for real, and then the photographer had them do it again for his camera.

My grandfather happened to be there and watched both raising. Still gives me chills when he tells me stories about Iwo Jima.

phearow: I don't think there's anything wrong with your layout of the flag site. Looks nicely presented, with no leaks.

It *could* be your niche though, or the selection of keywords you use to get ppl there. If they get there and don't find it relevant to their original search, they'll just hit the back button.

i've seen clueless... but apparantly you are lazy and clueless... i have given AMAZING examples of layouts that will get 40%++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++. Now... you lazy ass fucking clown, use the search on my name and look for it.

And hint: it isn't a fucking graphic... i did it with text.
