Okay, been working hard = got paid.

I'm gonna go shopping for stuff that'll streamline my business down as much as possible.

I am buying:
  • Macbook Air
  • Slim portable external hard drive
  • Windows 7
  • iPad (??? maybe)
  • Livescribe Echo 8GB Smart Pen
  • A pocket Livescribe note pad
  • A4 livescribe note pad
  • Camtasia/Screenflow
  • Personal Information Manager like Evernote
  • ActiveCollab
  • Skype credit
  • iPhone 4
  • Affiliate Stats software (Nifty Stats/StatsRemote/StatsJunky)
  • IronKey Enterprise 32 GB Flash Drive and a few surplus flash drives
  • A decent pair of headphones + mic
  • A nice sturdy leather courier bag to carry the Macbook Air
  • Roboform for iPhone
  • Palringo for iPhone
  • More staff - Software programmer for automation
  • A CRM software script (SugarCRM maybe)
  • A customer support software script (Kayako maybe)
  • A new shopping cart (Not sure at all, want 1-click upsell/downsells etc. 1ShoppingCart maybe)
I hate being stuck at my desktop. So I want to travel around and still get project plans submitted to my VAs. When I get an idea/see a business model I want to do, I'll sketch out a project plan and a rough work breakdown schedule using the Livescribe pen. I work faster and more efficently blasting notes down with a pen. Sitting front of a computer destroys my productivity (I have no will power!).

Using the Macbook Air, I'll collect together some assets and a little bit more info in the Personal Information Manager to flesh out the project. I'll also create a screencast video using Camtasia/Screenflow to explain to my Project Manager just what this project is and what I want done in it.

Upload the PIM file, pencast and screencast to a new Project in ActiveCollab. Assign the PM, she'll flesh out the project and assign the other staff.

I'll then keep an eye on the project using the iPhone's ActiveCollab module and Skype. Also, keeping an eye on the stats using Affiliate Stats software. Palringo on the iPhone for IM'ing AMs. Loggining in using Roboform for iPhone.

I also need a software programmer to create some bots to automate a lot of one of my businesses as well.

The above is what I do already, but substitute Livescribe for a scanner and the Macbook Air/iPhone for a PC desktop.

Some info that has helped me streamline my biz so far has been the eMyth materials and Outsource Force. But the biggest help has been just checking out Project Management sites. Effective PM is ALL in my book.

Not sure why I posted this... but I'd like to discuss points further with guys that are keen on taking themselves as much as possible out of their businesses and just being the owners that set the direction.

Macbook Pros are slightly thicker than a Macbook Air and have a lot more power. The Macbook Air is still just a really powerful thin netbook.

Yeah i'd reccomend a macbook pro. For that extra inch of thickness, its well worth it.

That is, unless you need to slip your macbook into an envelope - then go macbook air. ha.

A macbook pro? Hmm, I'm not needing anything more powerful than an Air. I'll only be surfing, watching vids, listening to MP3s, reading PDFs, running Word/Excel/Evernote. The most intensive software will be Camtasia. Plus I love just how small the 11" Air really is. I'm off to the store tomorrow, so will check out a Pro as well. Cheers.

Love to hear how other's streamline their business using hardware/software/staff/project management/process theories. Let's hear them.

If you plan to do any article marketing or creating your own info products you may want to add Dragon Speaking Naturally to your list. Once you learn how to use it, it can be a pretty useful piece of software.

Yeah, I can see DSN being very useful on the Macbook Air... just tell it to open Camtasia and stuff. Will check it out. Thanks.

No problem, hope it works out for you. The tools you listed is going to help a lot of people out. Personally, I'm a big fan of Skype as well. Let us know how "stress-free" your business becomes as you streamline all your tasks. Best of luck to you.

why you need all this bro? you wasted a hella lot of time thinking about all this when you could have been getting to done.
