The iAd's - Amazing

Looks ok to me, but lets be honest here, it's little more than a small banner to a flashy landing page, that's similar to an app.

I eagerly await the full platform, but can't help but feel a bit sorry for iPhone users: You paid a shit load for your mobile and/or your contract, you pay money for gimmick apps and now you have spyware loaded automatically into the OS. Nice.

No doubt Google will try to code something similar into Android and their OS - because remember kids, Google loves you.

o wait nevermind they've had mobile ads for a while now. but apples is obviously revolutionary

the biggest thing here is that it's built into the OS, and will more than likely be a default option in the SDK - meaning more developers will use it than AdMob, and it will be much higher volume.

I own a Blackberry, have never used Andriod or an iPhone and have no intention of doing so, so i didn't know...

I know how much you hate Apple Mr Cakes, but fuck, what on earth in my post made you think i thought they were being "revolutionary"? There's fuck all cool or revolutionary about it, i was stating its little more than a banner to an LP...

i meant they already have mobile ad code, you said they would try to do it in the future

and why not......?

ejj actually maybe. i think they would get more traction and be viewed as a smarter decision if they atleast tried it. a good idea for them to do it. get it out as early as possible... but apple loves closed systems. they'll view IOs on cpms as a higher margin business

like do you think they would sell unsold inventory into an exchange? not atleast for a few years because of proprietary ad format?

I feel sorry for you. You pay for internet access and every website you go to has ads on it.

after thinking about it again, it's probably gonna be a goldmine. if people are retarded enough to buy an ipad they'll probably fork their credit card over for anything.

I bought an iPad and have used the hell out of it. I even sold my macbook pro because I no longer need it. Looking forward to the Hulu iPad app.

This looks sick. Too bad the cpm rates will probably have an artificial floor as well as will be jacked up by branders immediately at launch

worst analogy i've ever seen

Yeah, beat me to it.

roclafamilia, iAds are part of the OS, the people who own the OS own masses of demographic data and that will likely be for sale as part of the ad targeting. As Advertisers it'll have targeting similar to FB, i hope and suspect, and that can only be erection inducing.

Besides i really couldn't care less, i'm about as into the iPhone as i am into eating my own shit. Get off your fanboi horse and remember Apple are a business not a club and they'll sell your data quicker than you can say, "Oh, but doesn't it look nice."

sounds like an awesome opportunity!

Marketers will be able to target ads to groups of users based on consumers' download preferences from its iTunes store, according to ad executives. For instance, a marketer could choose to show its ads to people who have downloaded financial applications or reggaeton music, horror movies or comedy TV shows.

just in case you're not in love, yet...

Apple is planning to charge advertisers a penny each time a consumer sees a banner ad, ad executives say. When a user taps on the banner and the ad pops up, Apple will charge $2. Under large ad buys, such as the $1 million package, costs would rack up to reach $1 million with the various views and taps.

brb, gonna get some zip submits ready.

The CPC is just messed. $2? Imagine all of the accidental clicks rackin up. Are big brand advertisers really retarded enough to pay for that?

Mobile is the next big medium for advertising... (radio > tv > internet > mobile). I'm still experimenting with it more than anything, it's been a bitch so far. The amount of money you can spend buying from mobile applications (especially WAP ones) is astonishing.
