So I'm hesitant to post this here, but maybe some of you are feeling charitable, or maybe you've been through something similar at one point and could have used the help. So here goes.

One of my closest friends from college was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukema last October. The diagnosis came in shortly before he and his wife had their first child.

In the year since, he's worked with his doctors and is doing much better. Unfortunately he has nearly 3 more years of treatments ahead of him. At the time of his diagnosis he was working 2 jobs, going to grad school and was part of a group that started The Handshake Magazine. His illness rendered him unable to continue working.

His wife Kate was working fulltime, but even with her insurance, his medical bills were piling up. Kevin's sister and a group of his friends organized a fundraiser to help cover some of the excess medical bills and help this new family during their time of need.

The goal was to raise $25,000. So far we're only about $500 short of that goal, but I would love it if we could raise far more than that.

I'm not asking you to donate, though it would be awesome if you could, but spreading the word about the fundraiser would be tremendously helpful.

You can find the fundraiser here Kicking Kevin's Cancer Bills, as well as a little about what Kevin and Kate have been going through.

Again, if you want to donate that is awesome. You can keep your name and donation amount anonymous. But my real goal is to get this fundraiser in front of as many people as possible. I know that they'll reach the goal without this, but I would be very appreciative with any help you guys can give with spreading this around the web.

Thanks for you time and consideration.

I just wanted to give a quick update on this.

On September 2 we passed the 25K goal mark for Kevin's cancer fundraiser. The donations that pushed us past the goal came from members on this forum. I just want to tell everyone who donated and/or helped spread the word around thank you.

Whether you know it or not, you guys helped eased one gigantic burden in Kevin's and Kate's life. There aren't really words to describe how awesome you guys are except to say that you all are the bee's knees.

Thanks again for reaching out and helping a total stranger.
