I have a list I think the most important social networks we can use to get our sites popular and be highly rated in search engines.

Facebook – using to get highly targeted traffic from pages and groups, cheap advertising vs google
MySpace – just huge network with possible wide exposure of the site
Twitter – easy to get many targeted followers, can be highly automated
Linkedin – work connections bring targeted friends
Digg – Bring a lot of traffic if the news are good
StumbleUpon – Bring a lot of traffic if the news are good
I have included three networks behind as well as I heard a lot about it and they are huge.
Friendster
Reddit
Delicious
Could you please extend this list with really important networks for SEO and describe how to use them for SEO. I would appreciate if someone can explain the usage of the last three network as well

How can you say its a list of the most important sites to you and then ask others why the last three are important

What planet you on bro? Social traffic is useless, esp from places like Reddit. Networking is pointless as well when you're working in spammy niches (finance, insurance, legal etc). No boost either with nofollow links. Facebook is good in the sense that it has max authority and you could likely rank long tail exact url pages and then funnel the traffic to your own sites, but otherwise why would you bother with other such social sites?! Fair enough if you run a hobby, or trends site etc, but would be a waste of time and energy with anything commercial.

hey this is a great list....you can also add hubpage and squidoo in this list. These are very helpful in SEO in terms of making backlinks.

Can you explain how can we use Hunch, Slideshare, Quora, Formspring for SEO ?

And, can you explain how can we use the sites you listed for SEO? I thought SEO means "Search Engine Optimization" and about ranking ;)

Can we use Orkut somehow for SEO? Can it be automated (more than just updates through hellotxt), do they have something we can outsource too get good targeted traffic? Many people mentioned Orkut on digitalpoint in social networks, any thoughts about it?

Orkut and DigitalPoint are not popular outside India

I think the retarded one is you here.

Reddit is the 51st largest site in the US traffic wise (according to Alexa). If you cannot figure out how to game traffic from it in a useful way, please stop calling yourself a webmaster. Sites hit the front page of Reddit all the time and they get so much traffic their servers shut down.

Social traffic and profiles are KEY to good SEO to get yourself on the 1st page of G organically.

No boost either with nofollow links.
