SEL put out a hilarious tongue-in-cheek response to a recent New York Times op-ed that postulates that Google is too big and scary, and exemplifies the need for federal oversight of search engines. Almost as funny as the article itself are some of the fucktard comments, like the guy who suggests -- with no irony at all -- that the first three pages of any given search query be randomised, with actual useful results starting on page four, because searchers should have to work to get the info they need. Not that that, you know, totally obviates the whole fucking point of the existence of search engines or anything. I also like the Harrison Bergeron-esque suggestion that big sites be required to rotate with little sites for the top spot, so that -- in the sense of fair play -- everyone gets to take a turn at #1 in Google.
