I'm pretty new to the linkbuilding thing, so I started a test last week, I paid a guy here on the forum to get one of my (hobby) sites on 1000 link directories. My test succeeds when I'm in the top 5 for a certain keyword, right now I'm on page 12 for that keyword.

When I use linkdiagnosis.com to check my backlinks, it finds 2 backlinks from a link directory. Google don't find those links, why?

I checked some sites from which I know they are using massive linkbuilding technics, I can't track the bulk backlinks, only a few. Why aren't those links findable in Google. How does it work? Link directories are handy for linkbuilding, that's a fact (?), but they look invisible.. how come?

I'd also like to know the answer as well but I believe it's one thing to get a webpage indexed in Google quickly. It's another thing for Google to determine all the links on that webpage, it's relation to the outgoing link and assess a value to that outgoing link.

Google can also tell if it's a shit backlink. If the directory is about fat guy lingerie and your site is about jedi knight lightsabres then your outgoing link could be seen as spam. On the other hand, Yahoo doesn't seem to be able to determine crap backlinks or not as well. Check Yahoo and see if they show more backlinks.

You're better off getting listed on top web 2.0 sites than directories imo.

Also, the directories may set spiders to crawl their pages slower.

I know 2 big dutch sites which used the bulk link directories, both sites are on no.1 in google with super keywords. I can trace about 10 link directories with their backlinks.. complete off topic link dirs by the way. It looks like every backlink is ok, but backlinksite A is more ok and backlinksite B is less ok, but at the end it's never negative for your google google position.

This i typical and standard from google. They seem to not want to show you all the backlinks or even internal links that you have. They are just slow to update these things it seems.

If you use Yahoo Site Explorer, you will find a more accurate number of backlinks.
