Respect to him for makin it where he is. But in the end, he isn't a good rapper. He's okay at best. And it's funny how he gets more media attention than artists who are 1000000 times better than him.

Why it _became_ so popular? Stop listening to current shit and go back 2 decades.

And, not to overanalyze, but at the end of the video they pull the dream cliche and he seems to imply that he doesn't actually believe that marijuana use is auspicious.

I have nothing but respect for the classics, but its beyond me how you rock n roll cats can listen to the same fuckin song for like 30 years and not get bored. I know this was great music and I Love the fact that you can be nostalgic and enjoy some old favorites ... but why hate on getting on with the times and enjoying all the new music out these days ( not saying that mac miller is ) but even if he is your cup of tea there is nothing wrong with it.

Why the fuck would you think that someone who listens to Mac Miller would want to listen to VAN HALEN?
 
At parties most people are sucking back beers like Coors Light, Bud Light Lime or Corona. Any beer connoisseur will tell you that these beers are swill and that there are thousands of better options.

To be popular the product itself merely needs to be easy to drink, generic and relevant to the times. The rest is marketing and distribution.

People don’t want the best because they don’t have the palate for it. Finding the best beers for you takes experimentation, thought, and confidence in your own preferences.

Music is the same.

The average person doesn’t have the palate for exceptional music. A friend once told me that a popular song needs to have a melody that is no more complicated than a nursery rhyme. He hit the nail on the head.

As music becomes more and more fragmented, the stuff that manages to appeal to the masses seems to be getting more retarded by the minute.

Every now and then truly great music DOES reach a huge audience. Somebody popped on Alicia Keys - Un-thinkable and I was blown away by the quality of the songwriting. The vocal performance is sincere and technically impressive. That is rare.
