Those little videos in the corner of people talking - better conversions?

Browsing through the interwebs, I'm sure you guys have come across one of those annoying ass lp's where there is a guy/gal in the corner talking and shit. How many of you use these things, and do they help the conversion ratio? I figure it would, since it puts a human face to the product, and makes the whole transaction seem more trustworthy or something like that.

By the way, is there an official name for these things? Just wondering (EDIT: I'm going to guess its called a Virtual Sales Person)
 


I have no idea how effective they actually are, but I imagine its like Sitepal, but better.

Last year at ASE in Miami there was one of these companies in the exhibit hall, talked to them a bit, seems convincing. Then again, that's their job.

(Way to give this guy more traffic lol. He's gonna come back in a week trying to sell it for 2x the current price.)
 
I've never tried it before, although I might, I obviously wouldn't suggest it if you are just testing an offer use it on an offer that you have a prove track record for. It probably does boost conversions. However, I fucking hate that little Chinese/Japanese/Asian/Korean bastard in the corner on that tea offer whatever the fuck it's called Wu-Yi tea or something. I could also see it causing people to hit the back button rather fast as it is very annoying. Probably depends on the offer.
 
You're right, I removed the link to his service but kept the link to some examples.

I see some LP's in the SERPs paying out of the ass for some keywords and they have these videos on them, so I imagine it must help there conversion ratio a bit. I've also wondered about advertising on TV for some campaigns, but thats for another thread, another day (and I think it was discussed a bit awhile back).

He's so Asian he must know all the green tea weight loss secrets!
 
That's exactly my point though - I'm sure people are stupid enough to think that because there is a video sales person, and that person is Asian and knows all of the green tea secrets (or whatever stereotype applies to your niche) that it makes the product 'legit' and BING they pop out the CC.

Time to find out how to make one of these things, just to see what would happen.
