So, I went to my site today just to look around (as if I don't already know whats there...) and up pops this really fucking annoying page saying that my site has been hacked by someone in Turkey. Then I went to login to the admin area and got the same thing.

Fucking idiots. Don't people have anything better to do? Are they just proving that they can exploit a security hole? Regardless, I fixed it. Changed passwords, updated the .htaccess file to plug some leaks, and removed some worthless (unused mostly) addons.

Apparently, this is fairly common with Joomla! sites. I'm not sure which component is the culprit, but I have my theories. Anyhow, if you're using Joomla! for any of your sites, check out the Joomla! forums. There's some useful stuff for helping you deal with these jackasses.

Yeah, those guys have been hacking A LOT of phpBB forums. I didn't know they could do Joomla as well.

You would think with their intelligence they could use it to make some money doing something useful. I don't understand how you can get your jollies off of hacking someone's stuff with nothing to gain.
 
they just want publicity. they probably dont know how to monetize on this yet. if this were me I would've at least redirected all the incoming traffic to one of my sites
 
I had a few sites on a Site5 reseller server that got attacked by some commie-socialists a few weeks ago. It sucks. I wonder how they think they are helping their cause by destroying stuff.

Exactly. After I fixed my site, I noticed that my Adsense ad said something about "Turkish Websites" or some such shit, so then I figured they fucked with my Adsense too. Luckily, they didn't. So, Google must've been looking at it and said "Hey this guy's site is about Turkish Hacking, lets display that Turkish hacking ad we got."

I just hope that the big G didn't happend to crawl my site today and index that crap. Wouldn't that just suck. :ak:
