Tips on selling your own product?

Any recommendations on selling your own product? I'm looking to develop something pretty unique that I know hasn't been done before (which could mean it's a great idea or that it's a bad idea since no one else is trying to make money off it).

But my question is would it be smarter to try and just sell the product myself via PPC etc. or open up my own mini affiliate program via something like HasOffers.com or just try and get it listed at one of the big affiliate companies?

If anyone has sold their own product before I'd be interested to see what route you took.

If you've got the idea - I guarantee others have it as well, so my advice would be to move like the fucking wind and get it to market.

You'll ideally want a bunch of channels pushing you sales - search, affiliates, social media, email, banners etc. Do it all and bring people onboard if need be.

Alternatively, if you have the cow, maybe it's better to sell the milk- especially if it is something you don't want copied.
