It's no better than it was before, platform was buggy and had unacceptable downtime when you are paying for visitors.

The shit is encrypted which means you can't fix the parts that are broken and do any serious addons with it.

Also, the reason people didn't use it is because they could easily steal keywords. This is still possible with self hosted version by hitting a url. If it's encrypted we'll never know.

Ofc, we could just de-zend it ... Why can't these fucks just do something for the community and open source it? It's not like they had a profit model in place anyways. Wes, you'll definitely make a better name for yourself that way ....

Seriously? They're giving it away for free. Quit your bitching. If someone gives you a $10 bill, do you complain and say it wasn't a $20?

If you're paranoid about that shit, just run a damn sniffer. It's REALLY not that hard.

This is a pretty good deal. I'll have to learn how to use it effectively. I've mostly only been doing Facebook ppc so far.

I say nice job, shows the ability to man up and prove that the original idea was for the open benefit to the community.

Not paranoid, I've started campaigns there but move them when I've got the words in place & it's profit time. More because of the downtime than them thieving. I don't think that's happening but it's definitely something that people here have been concerned about so releasing an encrypted version definitely doesn't put that issue to rest.

But you're right, free is free and I shouldn't be as critical as I was above. It would just be nice to be able to easily hack something in place easily instead of having red tape to deal with. I guess I'm just spoiled by sourceforge.

Any of you looked at OpenX (formerly OpenAds, PHPAdsNew). I've not used it for ppc tracking, but it does support click tracking with Adwords and conversion tracking.

It's great for ad serving, so on that side it would be really easy to use it for split testing, geo-targeting might come in handy too.

The financial side of things seems limited, although you can enter cpc figures manually.

Openx like anything has issues. I was not impressed with there adwords integration but have not looked at it in some time

Has anyone used the hosted version, or at least had a chance to packet sniff at outgoing packets (to see what's going on behind Zend?).

If anyone knows of a good open source start to pulling data from Google's API for reporting purposes, I'll see what I can whip up in the next few months (I'm not a programmer, but my business partner could probably come up with some basic that works, and doesn't have any chance of stealing keywords).

from what im hearing the only thing it sends out for is version info and news feed exactly like wordpress

its a really good platform, worth trying out. has pretty much anything you could ask for as far as tracking goes

not sure how thats possible considering google doesnt give you the cpc for each click. you can put the cpc data in yourself without a prob though.

do you need to enter the avg cpc on a keyword by keyword basis manually or is there some bulk way of doing this?

This looks clean afaik. I dezended and scanned through the code briefly and it looks good.

And before you ask, fuck no, I will not give you the code. It is unusable anyway, and its already off of my HD.
