Trademark/product question

Hi,

I honestly don't know if this is the right section to ask but I figured I could try. Alright, let's get down to my question. I have found an affiliate product I'd like to rank for on Google. I believe the product itself is trademark protected so using the keyword in my domain is not an alternative here.

I thought I could use a synonym for that very keyword and use it for my domain and then fill it with SEO friendly content. Alright, let's say it's ranking high now and selling good shit, is this allowed by law? I mean, I grab an no-related domain and rank for their product and sell it through an affiliate network.

Thanks for reading and I hope someone can tell me if this is okay or not. I'm new when it comes to this and is very excited what the answer might be!

Okay, lovely. What if my url contains a trademarked work? That doesn't count, right?

That's getting old. Reverse it and point it at yourself. In other terms - facepalm. Don't blame the techas.

Knoss,

A very good question as I have some trademark issues of my own. I have a nickname for a trademarked pill from big pharma, want to use it, everyone knows its a synonym for phamie pill, in urban dictionary, so its a close shave, yet my partner on this (who of course doesn't have his ass on the line) thinks its great and wants to go full tilt boogie...

I know Trademarks pretty well but still it is somewhat subjective. Go to USPTO.gov and look up "likelihood of confusion" to at least weigh in and don't be shy on hitting up the free consult trademark peeps especially on the west coast, if they bore you just hang up and try another. I filed 3 trademarks myself over the last few months after listening to a bunch of blowhards, some who didn't even know their law as well as me the layman...

Good luck man
