TrafficVance Clickloss Issues?

So I've been getting about half the clicks TV is reporting. I've got my redirect, and site on a hostgator dedicated server.

I use Google Analytics on the site. I know most of you guys use 202, but 202 wasn't really necessary for this situation. And I kind of doubt its an Google Analytics issue.

Any suggestions why roughly half the clicks are coming through? Anyone else ever have similar issues.

It is really basic, the only javascript is the Analytics call.

Thanks. Any other thoughts anyone else ever see this?

Over how many clicks [what sample size] are you seeing this? One option is to try running clicks for a bit to an untracked page without the GA link and just see how many uniques hit to see if there's some sort of tracking issue. There is some click discrepancy in PPV usually but 50% indicates something is going on.

Thanks, the sample size has been around 800-1000 pops/clicks.

I tried direct linking to the offer to use my affiliate companies tracking instead of mine, and they showed no more clickloss issues.

So is do you guys think the issue my hosting or my Analytics tracking?

That's what someone pointed out. If Javascript is disabled on the browser, then analytics stands meaningless.

So that might be the case.

Ahh thanks, generally what % of browsers have javascript disabled?

Also I am going to setup tracking202 on my dedicated to test, does it track accordingly no matter their javascript setting?

Tracking202 uses Javascript to track as well. Your best bet would be to fire up a pixel on your page by installing an image tracker.

Piwik does have the same -
Piwik Tracking API - Piwik

You should take a look.

Having run 218,797 impressions on TV (which is really not that many) I can say it's your tracking that is messing up for the most part.

TV is pretty honest - I always find my P202 stats within 1% of the TV stats.

That said - there's always room for error. I am sure TV is not serving 100% of the ads I have set up but 1% I can live with - probably network timeouts, etc.

OP, track it with a small pixel via your raw web logs. Also try with a pixel on a different non-hostgator domain for comparison. Use both pixels in the same lander/ad, simultaneously. (Be aware of potential cache issues if these are repeat visitors??)

Host speed, javascript execution time, disabled java, viewer closing window before java execution, these all have an effect.

202 could help with diagnosis, but will cause another delay, and potentially additional loss.

Some loss is normal, even if you have a screaming-fast host.

Thanks for all the input guys, I will test this stuff out and let you know how it goes.

And yeah I don't think it has anything to do with TrafficVance.
