Ive been toying with the idea of getting two more monitors. My only concern is that because im so used to using only one monitor, i wonder if i would actually end up using/getting used to the other two beside it and making full us of them as well. i've read a bunch of things and people say that thsi really helps increase productivity.. is this true? for those of you that have this kind of setup, is it really worth it?

I have two 20" wide monitors and to be honest, it's cool but I could live with one display. Two monitors are handy when you are doing stuff between two programs. I find it particularly useful in SEO stuff when you need multiple different information sources open simultaneously so with two monitors I don't have to switch between programs.

But, three monitors... I wouldn't waste my money.

I had 3 at work before. It definitely made things much easier for me. I would have outlook running on 1, my IDE in another, and the webbrowser or application that I was working on in the 3rd.

You get used to the setup really fast. I was using a program called UltraMon to make things even more efficient.

I have a 24 in wide screen and a 17 inch monitor on each side. Definately worth it. My only suggestion is to get the same verticle height/resolution for all monitors since when you drag a window from screen to screen it can be a bitch to resize.

I hook my 17" laptop up to a 23" LCD when I work at my desk (which doesn't happen all that often). I do love it when I do, though. It just feels good.

I got our programmer 3 LCDs and he LOVES them.

Laura :)

Try 2 out for a few weeks. You'll either love it or hate it. Then you can decided if you want to go three. Personally, if i wasn't using a laptop i'd be using 3 right now. I need to build a new desktop and then i'll be going with 3 42inchers.
