Is it just me, or is it hard to get an instant approval of an AdWords ad that's promoting ringtones? I've emailed Google because I can't seem to get one of my campaigns to start receiving impressions, and another one was declined with one of Google's cryptic "editorial guidelines" messages.

Has anyone else experienced any trouble promoting ringtones on Google? Are they just sensitive because of that person who was spamming AdWords with ringtone ads? Is there another PPC network I should be using instead?

I had this problem as well, first my ads got disapproved because of 'mobile subscription services' , after I fixed my landing page and resubmitted my ads, I get 'copyright & unacceptable content' ban.

I tried to use Yahoo but it's tiring because I don't have the import feature .... sigh......

They check if your LP complies with their new "mobile content" policies. (the dreaded checkbox) What bugs me about this is the haphazard way they go about it. I got all my ads disabled for violating this policy. Now the first 10 ads that show up in my country for ringtones are all non-compliant. Even big ones like jamba don't have a checkbox ... So it seems that the rules can be bent when you spend big cash ...

which other PPC networks ?? ===> YSM and adcenter

You mean we need to have a check box even when we are using a select carrier type of landing page?

No. The LP of the actual ringtone provider needs to have one. (so after ppl click the carrier ...) and according to google's policy your LP should have info about how to stop the subscription.

Does this mean they will manually check our landing pages , click on the links to see whether or not the merchant page is compliant? Or do they check using Bots?

So were you able to get your ads approved by using Google compliants ringtone offers?

They did check the affiliate offer in my case but judging by the amount of non-compliant offers that are still up in adwords they may not do this with everyone. When I ask them why the other advertisers are able to use non-compliant offers they give me the standard answer that they have a backlog doing the manual checks. (<-bullshit I suspect ... money makes the rules bendable)

When I changed the offer to compliant ones my ads were approved again. My conversions went down the drain tho ... so stick with the non-compliant ones for as long as you can.

Your LP needs to have the info on how to stop the ringtone service, and also a check box where user agree to the Terms and condition.

It has been implemented for quite some times, needless to say, it is a big conversion killer.

Switch to Yahoo! PPC instead.

The only offer that I know that is Google approved is FlyCell. It doesn't convert very well.

As a followup, my PlayPhone offer was disapproved by MSN AdCenter as well. I'm still waiting on Yahoo! Search Marketing to see what they do. This really sucks.
