Trying to Optimize Ads on a Site, new to it.

Hi,

We have been running a very large soccer community online for several years and have just started looking into effective monetization techniques.

Is MySpace still a viable way to promote one's site or is this old school now? If it's the latter, then what are the best alternatives?

We are currently trying a blend of ValueClick and Google ads, but not sure that we have gone about it effectively. The site is Talk Soccer forum, articles, news and discussions for football fans

That ads by google text link box looks like utter crap. take that adsense unit that is on the bottom your your page and put it where the banner ad is at. also go around on as many forums as possible like this one and keep asking the same question. You'll get more links to your site.
