go to online gaming forums and tell them that you're a girl. give them some time to get over the shock of that revelation. flirt with them a little bit here and there--but not too much, they really don't know how to handle it. build up a reputation as the good girl-who-might-sleep-with-them-if-they-follow-her-on-twitter. voila!
 
Follow to be followed, and re-tweet to be followed! I set aside 20 minutes each day for a few days where I simply followed people within my niche and was getting about 20 new followers each day within about 3 days.

Or course, you can always outsource this.
 
Following people that have almost the same number of following to followers works well. Usually means they autofollow back or dont have a problem following people.

Within 80% of each other is a good number for that.
 
have a look for people to follow in your niche - some good sites to check are twellow.com and twitr.org for top twitter accounts in your niche - then just follow these guys, their followers & the people they're following - you'll probably get lots who'll follow you back automatically.

Or use tweetattacks free to make it much easier. Sign up for their emails too, they give out some great hints.
