Hi, just wondering if it really matters if a UK site is hosted in the USA? What are the pitfalls?

Thanks

Hi,

I asked this very question to Hostgater just the other day and they said it doesn't matter at all . They host sites from around the world with no problems and their support operates 24/7. Sorry but I can't advise from personal experience.

I don't know it depends i think, may be for local sites it can help them rank compared to one that is local but is hosted else where.

I think you cant go wrong with UK hosting. There are people who provide uk hosting cheaply, ok it might not compare to bluehost prices. You just have to look a little harder

Search feature would have answered this for you. Hosting location makes no difference in terms of SEO. Site speed does. Concentrate on a getting a good host rather than a local one.

Sorry was being a bit lazy and thanks for your answer. I've only used USA hosts before but was selling to English speaking community worldwide so never mattered and I know the speed was good to the UK. Now I'm in the process of setting up a UK specific website.
