How do you stay focused on a project or a niche? I have pretty bad OADD (online ADD) and I can't focus on any one thing for more than a few days until I get bored and move on to something else.

How do you sit your ass down and focus on a single project?

Man up and fucking do it. Jeebus. The tell tale sign of a n00b is starting a bunch of shit and never finishing it

yep, i was just about to post the link to quadzillas post as well.

it's very common online i find, especially when you go around forums like these and hear about new ideas to make cash. but you just have to stick at something and finish it.

thank you for that DO IT FUCKING NOW link...

I'm gonna start tacking that quote a lot of places. I especially like where he says, "some people say you don't need the fucking in do it fucking now. You do." Maybe it should have read, "Yes you fucking do."

Great shit though.

I know guys, "just do it" is so easy to say. My problem is not NOOB anything, I've been in marketing for 5 years. My problem is keeping interested in something long enough to finish.

Cry me a river, just suck it up, that's it really.

Think of it this way... Does making money online interest you or does working for the man interest you more?

Physically force yourself to do it. Commit to forcing yourself to do it. Tell other people you're going to force yourself to do it, so you will look like a spineless asshole when you don't.

I find that I usually work better when someone tells me that I'm incapable of doing something. So......simple answer.....you can't focus
Your ADD will take over your life and you won't amount to much.....

Don't think you can prove me wrong.....can you?

The best way to stay focused is to make money. The best way to make money is to stay focused.

Fuckin stay focused. Even if an idea/niche seems like shit, stick it out. You'll be surprised.

What works for me is to multitask between small projects, but not big ones. Say I'm working on a new niche, which to me is a small project that consists of several different steps: looking for a profitable niche and evaluation, buying domain(s), setting up the hosting, finding appropriate template and tweaking, getting and incorporating content, uploading it all, promotion.

All these steps (except promotion which is an ongoing process) are small enough to be done with quickly - ranging up to several hours each. Thus they are easy to focus on since you know you'll be done very soon. Plus they are different enough to provide variety.

Being in business and being self-employed requires you to have initiative, self-discipline and self-motivation. It also requires time management and being organized, among other things. Since you're not going to derive any revenue from unfinished projects, you need to stay interested in the chosen project long enough to finish it. Say for example you're writing an ebook, you would spend two or three days on that ONE PROJECT until it's done, spend a couple of days advertising and promoting it and move on to the next project. But if you only finish it halfway, and you can't finish any project to the point that it will make money for you, then being in business is NOT for you. This applies to any business, not just internet marketing.

Gonna sound cliche and gay but setup a goal with a reward system. Think of something you want like a nice dinner. Then write down a list of goals for yourself to meet that day. Don't meet them you eat like shit. Sometimes in the beginning that's what you have to do. Then as you become more and more passionate about what you're doing and see money if something gets completed then it gets easier and easier. Without a clear defined goal and focus you'll wander.

*nod* This is excellent advice as well. I tend to think of the whole project and every step involved and I get discouraged quickly. This may help with that. :)

Take a look at this thread http://www.wickedfire.com/affiliate-marketing/11073-newbies-journey-3000-120-days.html

I think the key is to make a plan. I am not talking about a business plan (of course that too) I'm talking about a plan on how you schedule your day. I like that this guy devoted "30 minutes a day to learning php". Break your day into segments and stick with it.

Your Day:

x amount of time to studying
x amount of time to researching
x amount of time to paper (what is this 'paper' you speak of? I find actually drawing diagrams help)
x amount of time to surfing forums (wf is fucking addictive so be sure to stick to your schedule!)
x amount of time to application

Keep in mind your x times will and should shift as your project grows (your going to spend more time studying and reseaching as a newb and then more time to application one your up and running)

Now if only I could stick to my own advice!! (life sure does seem to get in the way, aye?)
