Unethical, but illegal?

Hello Forum,

Cutting to the chase.. I know adwords has a daily spending limit a user can set. After this amount is used up in clicks, their ad is suspended for the day.

If my ad is showing up in 2nd place on average, is it against the adwords rules for me to spam my competitors clicks via a ghosted IP?

I could expend their daily allowance, and my ad would overtake 1st place.

It's unethical for sure, just wondering if there are other repercussions.

thanks

The repercussions might be you get punched in the face. Seriously, how stupid are you to question if it's against adwords rules?

What would the repercussions be if you borrowed your neighbor's knife and carved your name in his tires later that evening?

Congratulations on a fucked up first post. Maybe you can get banned after your second. Go rip off DP.

Fucktard.

Yeah, I deserved the flaming. While what I purposed was blatantly immoral and unethical, and as I've read the adwords section on fraudulent clicks, I'm not convinced that doing "what it takes" is not a mindset some forum members here maintain.

For example, are Black Hat SEO techniques indirectly hurting others who are trying to attain the same goals, but using "legitimate" techniques?

A week or so ago when the adwords spammer was discussed again ( as seen here for example: Google Adwords Still Getting Owned - ShoeMoney® ) the person who is accomplishing that is being hated on sometimes, sure- and it's deserved: but others can't avoid commending the ingenius of it. I'm sure if members here knew how to do it, they would too.

Lastly, I believe I have even seen Tom and his Super Affiliate Marketing Blog allude to potentially using less than reputable methods ( i could be mistaking the blog for a different one ) in order to achieve their goals.

I'll step aside and let the flaming continue, I just wanted to elaborate on my point. I don't want to be banned as I've been lurking this site for a week or so, and it's truly an amazing resource and I've learned alot already ( including expecting to be flamed. )

Will posting mammories help? I love Heidi Klum.

dude, there is a huge line between using some black hat SEO stuff and outright click fraud. Don't be a fucking asshole.

If you do that to someone, maybe you'll be lucky enough to receive the same treatment.

Dumbass.

Boobies or not, your Karma will get you. We at WF may sometimes be immoral, illegal and basically incoherent, but (I believe) we try to be the kind of guys you would like to have a beer with on Friday night. Not somebody you don't want near your dog. :glowingeyes_sml:

Really? What *is* the difference between ad fraud (double/triple/quadruple/octuple serving, invalid display URLs, etc.) and click fraud? Both cost legitimate advertisers money.

One is gaming the system, another is a direct attack on an individual.
Both types of fraud are gaming the system, and whether they hurt the other advertisers directly or indirectly the result is not much different.
