Browsing WF a couple days ago I came across this :

F.lux: software to make your life better

It works nice and dims the screen nicely at night. But when designing, I wanted to temporarily turn it off (running it on a Mac). Every time I click the F.lux icon to open the program, it never opens. But when I try to drag it to the trash to just uninstall it, it tells me the program is running and can't be deleted.

Has anybody here that uses this with a Mac run into these problems? I'd do whatever I can right now, either just uninstall it or find a way to actually open it to edit the settings.

Thanks.

it may be running as a prefpane or in your menubar, and the options would be there to turn it off. There's ways to uninstall it though if you want that if you can't find how to temp. disable

I can't find it anywhere, it's not up in the menu bar when I click the application icon which is what doesn't make sense.

But yeah, I'd be open to any input on how to just remove this shit completely. Dragging to the trash doesn't work and deleting through terminal didn't work either.

go to activity monitor, force quit the process, then drag to trash. if it won't let you,

in terminal go to the folder it's in, and:

sudo rm -f (appname)

You have to kill the process first. Use activity monitor or kill it on the command line

sudo killall flux

Then drag it to the trash.

Thanks, activity monitor did it.

Wish I could actually tweak the settings. Once I deleted it and the screen returned to it's normal color I was like "woah"...pretty huge difference.
